How I Work

The experience you will have shooting with me will likely feel like visiting a friend, but that friend happens to just take a lot of photos and expect you to bring some changes of clothes 🙂. I almost always shoot using natural light, but I do have lights in a garage style studio if it's needed, however this is very rare. Most of the time, it will just be you, me, my camera and a reflector. I will have you sitting, squatting, standing... Whatever I feel like gives us the best photo in the moment. Sometimes you might feel a bit silly, but I promise to make it a very easygoing process and have you feeling relaxed as quickly as possible. I understand a photo shoot can feel strange, especially if it's your first one so feel free to share if you're nervous and we will work together to get you the results you are after. Once the shoot is finished... I will give you all of your images with a watermark and in low resolution. You can then choose your favorites which I will edit for you and send back in high resolution for you to use as you please.

FAQ

Why Does Photography Cost So Much?

I've heard many times from many areas of life, that photographers charge too much. And I may have thought it was quite expensive before I started my photography career also. However, the shoot is just one small part of the process. A photographer needs to upgrade equipment, cover costs of cloud based software, editing software, and the most time consuming element... The hours of editing that the client doesn't see. This editing is the detailed, careful element of the process that assures you get a quality product. I hope this helps give some perspective. 🙂

Where are you based and do you travel?

I'm in Brisbane, Australia. I rarely travel for work, but have done and likely will do again, however it's not part of my usual practice. There are beautifully talented photographers everywhere who do what I do, so I don't see a need, however if I'm asked and there is a group of interested clients, I will always consider it.

When will we get our photos?

Your will receive an online gallery link with all your photos within maximum 3 weeks (sometimes less). You can download all the photos from the gallery but also share them and choose your favorites.

How Long Does A Shoot Take?

If you are doing your own hair and make-up/grooming, you should allocate an hour for a standard session, and 2 hours for a deluxe session. I like to show you the back of the camera, so you have an idea of what your photos are looking like. When we agree you have a nice selection to choose from in an outfit, I will encourage you to change. I don't believe in you having 200 photos in the same outfit and struggling to choose your favorites... Quality over quantity!

Do You Do Weddings, Families or Functions?

I have recently made the decision to only shoot content and headshot photography. I can recommend others who specialize in these areas if you would like some suggestions!

What should I Wear?!

Firstly... Ask your agent if you have one. Some agents want quite a variety of looks and shots to reflect various characters they see you being pitched for. Others will want 1 solid photo that shows you in your best light. If you aren't quite sure, look through my photos and you'll get a good start... Otherwise, this is a great article (Not mine but I refer to it often for my clients as it is a good place to start).

If in doubt.. Jewel colours always work well!
